Not a week goes by without a report of censorship with popular social media Companies such as Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and others. With Facebook and other Social Media outlets censoring the content of its users, many are searching for a Facebook alternative.
I have been looking around for alternatives to Facebook for a several months now. I have also been watching where other YouTube content creators are going as well as watching trends for Facebook alternatives. Here are two alternatives for Facebook that many Facebookers and YouTubers are increasingly embracing and that I often see as suggested alternatives in Social Media comments.
Minds.com
Minds.com is an open source and decentralized platform for Internet freedom. Minds pays in crypto for your contributions to the community.
Core principles of Minds include nonpartisan (r)evolution of ideas and global consciousness; Real world solutions with free speech, co-ownership and open discourse; and Privacy and transparency with encryption and open source software.
An App for Minds is available on Google Play and on the Apple App Store.
MeWe.com
Although still a newcomer to the Social Media world, MeWe.com has millions of members from all over the world, and together with its users, they are, in their words, leading a social media revolution. At this time they have no ads, no spyware, and are committed to user privacy.
It's Safe. They do not spy, track, or share user data. Your personal information and content is yours.
It's Fun. Share anything and everything: photos, videos, voice messages, disappearing content, mail, chat and more. Capture your entire world or just a moment in time.
It's Next Generation. Their unique permission controls let you decide who sees your content. No creepy stalkers or strangers.
It's Comprehensive. MeWe's breakthrough technology allows you to stay connected to your world through 1:1 communication or in private groups. Save and manage your content in your personal cloud storage, too.
MeWe Apps are available on Google Play and on the Apple App Store.
Making a Choice for a Facebook Alternative
Both of these Facebook alternatives are good choices. Minds.com seems to have more of a draw to content creators than does MeWe. Minds is similar to Facebook but is also a little different. MeWe provides, I think, a similar look and feel as Facebook than does Minds. MeWe seems to be more focused upon making connections individually and in groups.
I created accounts with both services and continue to discover benefits of each service in its own way, so I would suggest for those interested in Facebook alternatives to do the same.
